With over 21 years of experience homeschooling her six children, Kym Kent, a native of Queens, New York, is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park, with a degree in Economics, and previously worked as a paralegal in Special Education litigation. Her real education, however, began in 2003 with the start of her family’s homeschooling journey. While participating in classical Christian homeschool tutorials, she taught elementary, middle and high school math, and is now well known for her high-energy Math classes, where she helps her students enjoy math while preparing and challenging them for high-level studies. In 2017, Kym co-founded Bridge Elementary Homeschool Tutorial Ministries, which is now eXtend Homeschool Tutorial, where she continues to teach middle and high school math, as well as elementary and middle school English/Language Arts. Through the years, Kym’s passion for homeschooling and unconventional educational environments has enabled her to mentor, support, and encourage countless students and families, as well as fellow edupreneurs, through local and national workshops and conventions, where she is a frequent guest speaker. Kym serves as a VELA Community Connector and leads a cohort of educational entrepeneurs in the metro DC area. Through her work at eXtend, Kym has had the opportunity to consult on books and articles covering the many facets of homeschooling, and is an emergent writer and frequent podcast guest. Kym was recently selected as a 2025 50CAN National Voices Fellow where she is lending her voice to the national dialogue surrounding education and homeschooling.
Of Kym's six homeschooled children, three are college graduates, one is entering her senior year of college, and one is in the eXtend Class of 2025. With one more child in high school, Kym's goal is to continue learning and growing right alongside her. While Kym enjoys using her gifts to serve homeschooling families by connecting them with resources their families need, spending the quality time homeschooling affords with her family at their home in Bowie is Kym's favorite thing to do.

The community meets monthly via Zoom and is a safe space for homeschooling moms to find support and contentment as they attend to the sacred task of educating their children at home. With the graduation of her third and final homeschooler, Nicole launched Home Education Confidence, an education consultancy where she has the pleasure of equipping families with the confidence to continue their unconventional educational journeys all the way through high school by assisting them with preparing their students for graduation and successful college admissions and whatever else they desire to do post-graduation.

With a degree in Early Childhood Education and experiences ranging from a Pre-K Teacher to over twenty years as the Director of a local childcare center, Ellen has always loved working with children and families. Upon her "retirement" she began volunteering more and more at her daughter's school. When the pandemic hit, she and her husband decided their family needed a change from their traditional private school setting, and were led to eXtend. In Ellen's words, "To say it was the Lord's leading is an understatement." As they've watched their 14 year old daughter thrive at eXtend, Ellen has grown in her service to our community, first as an in-class parent assistant, to assisting with Parent Duty (yes, she is responsible for sending out those reminders!), to now serving as Assistant Administrator for eXtend. When she is not on site at eXtend, she is enjoying time at her home in Bowie with her loving husband and their amazing 14 year old daughter.

As a child Kim always wanted to be a teacher. She began college as an elementary education major. Kim and her husband Mike were married when they were still in school and God had other plans for Kim as their family began the first year they were married. Kim began homeschooling when her oldest was entering high school and the second child was going into second grade. Now as a homeschooling mom of over fifteen years, three of their four children have graduated. Ten of their homeschooling years were spent as part of a Classical Christian tutorial, with Kim serving as the director, science coordinator, and 4th – 6th grade language arts and IEW tutor. Believing that all children are capable of great success and that learning to LOVE learning is the foundation of an amazing education Kim works hard to foster that love of learning in all children. After all, that is what she believes the elementary school years are all about. In her free time, Kim enjoys being outdoors, crafting, and spending time with her family.
